Newsweek had a cover story earlier this year on gender issues, and the online articles are interesting and informative.
Letter from Christine Daniels (LA Times Sportswriter)
Christine came out in public earlier this year. I was inspired to be open in the way I talked to people about my transition by her.
She’s Not There: A Life in Two Genders
The personal story of Jennifer Finney Boylan, an English professor at Colby College in Maine who transitioned in her late 30’s, has two kids and was/is married. Not that everyone’s story is the same, but a good example of someone who went through this “in public”, and got through it whole (and she’s pretty amazing).
True Selves: Understanding Transsexualism
I personally didn’t love this book. However, some people looking for “just the facts” loved it. Less of a story, more of a textbook.
This book was both insanely hard to read, but also the clearest description I’ve ever read of the continuums of gender identity and attraction. Not for the squeamish.
Pastafarianism
Here’s some links that may be interesting/funny/offensive.
Church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster
Its at http://www.venganza.org but that server seems to not be working as I write this (12/26/2007).

So, really what I’m wondering is more of what the experience of your transition was like for your wife. What it was like going through it with you when you went in for your surgeries, if/when you started harmones, how she managed to grow in acceptance of your new look vs your old look.
I’m seeing someone who’s a pre-op mtf, and I’d just like to hear what her experiences were like so I don’t do anything stupid to hurt this amazing person I love so much.
thanks.
Megan>> Hi Danielle – this is a LONG topic… I will get back on this one though….

I saw the film _She’s a Boy I Knew_ at the Seattle LGBT film festival this weekend and I thought it was awesome! It explores the experiences of Gwen’s friends and family in an amazingly even handed way.
